Flake & Chip Epoxy Systems — Common Questions
How long does epoxy floor coating last?
A professionally installed epoxy floor coating typically lasts 10–20 years with proper care. Our polyaspartic topcoat is UV-stable and won't yellow. We back every installation with a 5-year warranty.
How long does installation take?
Most residential garage floors (1–3 car) are completed in 1–2 days. You can walk on the floor in 24 hours and drive on it in 72 hours. Commercial projects vary depending on square footage.
Do you prep the concrete before coating?
Yes — surface preparation is the most critical step. We use professional diamond grinding equipment to mechanically profile the concrete surface, which ensures maximum adhesion and a coating that won't peel or flake.
Will epoxy floor coating work on my cracked concrete?
In most cases, yes. We repair cracks and spalls before applying the epoxy system. Minor cosmetic cracks are filled as part of our standard process. Severely damaged or structurally compromised slabs may require additional concrete repair first.
Can epoxy be applied over existing paint or coatings?
No — existing paint and coatings must be completely removed first. Our diamond grinding process removes old coatings and gives the concrete the proper surface profile for a lasting bond.
Is epoxy slippery when wet?
A plain gloss epoxy can be slippery when wet. That's why all our systems include either a full-broadcast flake or an anti-slip additive in the topcoat, giving you a safe, textured surface.
